For my desktop I have xlr connections on my delta 1010 lt card, but I don't have such luxuries for my laptop.
What mics have great quality capturing and can plug in the input jack(1/8th inch?)?
Unfortunately I'm using the integrated sigmaTel sound, so don't have even sound blaster :(

Using this for vocal(singing) recordings.
Thanks

your best bet is to skip your internal card all together. the preamps are noisy and the converters are definetly not top notch. I would recommend that you use a USB microphone. There are many on the market from fifty bucks to three or four hundred. You can get a basic mic to a large diafram multi pattern mic. I would recommend that you also get a wind screen, pop filter, boom mic stand, and a good shock mount for your mic if it doesn't come with one already. The USB mic comes up as it's own input device in sonar so you'll be set to go. And, if you are using xp or vista, it's plug and play. Your other option is to go with a firewire or USB audio interface. Then you would have speaker outputs, line in, line out, mic preamp with phantom power, instrument input, etc. You can get something that is passable for under two hundred dollars. For better quality, you'll have to drop some more dough. Then, you could get a nice condenser or tube condenser mic to run into it.
